About us

Music Explorers was created in 1999 by Julie Digby in response to parents of pre-school children at Mini Music Makers, who were keen to see a progression route for their children to continue with music once they were at school.

The unique philosophy on which Music Explorers was founded is as a result of many years of teaching music and the arts in secondary schools, as well as contributing to the Post Graduate Creative Arts programme at Homerton College, Cambridge University.

"I went to the garden and dug up the ground..."

These teaching experiences, combined with Julie`s research into the collaborative arts for her MEd. have all contributed to the innovation that is Music Explorers today.

"I believe myself to be privileged as I must be one of the few that teaches across age ranges. I am constantly delighted by the amazing musical achievements of these very young children. I look forward to making the Music Explorers approach to music teaching accessible to more children."
